On Saturday 6 September 2025, six-year-old Hugo Swales became one of the youngest supporters of Adoption Matters by taking on and completing the Mini Great North Run.
Hugo, who ran the 1.2km dash accompanied by his Dad, has so far raised around £2,000, including Gift Aid, for our children’s charity.
The Mini Great North Run is designed to give families a taster of the famous Great North Run atmosphere and Adoption Matters is incredibly grateful that Hugo and his family decided to do it for our cause.
Prior to the event, in a video posted on our social media channels (watch below), Hugo said that he was excited to run for a “great charity” and “help children”.
Annie O’Neill, Adoption Matters Fundraising and Relationship Manager, says:
“We are so thankful that Hugo and his family chose to support Adoption Matters through this event and we are incredibly proud of Hugo’s achievement.
“Everyone at Adoption Matters want to thank Hugo and his parents as all funds raised will help provide more support to families and adopted adults through our Centre for Fostering and Adoption Support.”
