Can I adopt if I am Neurodiverse?

Yes, being neurodiverse does not prevent you from adopting a child.

We focus on your ability to provide a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for a child. Neurodiversity—whether it involves autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or other neurological differences—is not a barrier. What matters most is how your needs are managed and how you can best meet the needs of the children.

Adoption Matters is working towards becoming a Neurodiverse Friendly Employer creating an inclusive culture through training, open and honest communication. A working group is looking at many ways to encourage and support Neurodiverse recruitment for staff and adopter families, adapting our process to meet the needs of all the people we work with.
