Five amazing runners showed their support to children’s charity and voluntary adoption agency, Adoption Matters, at the AJ Bell Great Manchester 10k on Sunday 26 May 2024, raising over £1,500 in the process.
Team Adoption Matters was made up of John (pictured above), who impressively completed the course in just under 49 minutes, Ellie, who took part to show her support to her Mum who works for the charity, David, who will remarkably also be running the Great North Run in aid Adoption Matters, and Amy, who works for the charity, and her son Ben.
Amy, one of our runners at the event, has shared her thoughts on taking part:
“I will say for anyone thinking of doing this event that it is a great day, very well organised and the support around the race was brilliant – it really kept you going!
“Ben and I really enjoyed it, but the atmosphere was fab and running alongside my son was very special – we were both really chuffed with our times and being able to raise so much money for Adoption Matters.”
Adoption Matters has offices in Chester, Hale, Blackburn, Warrington, Manchester, Leeds, Stoke and Durham, but they cover the whole of the North of England, parts of the Midlands and Wales, Staffordshire and Shropshire.
The funds raised will help to provide more support to families, children, adopted adults and birth families through the Centre for Fostering and Adoption Support.
Annie O’Neill, Adoption Matters Fundraising and Relationship Manager, comments:
“We are so grateful to all of our runners for their dedication in completing the Great Manchester 10k – it is amazing to see so many people with a connection to our charity give up their time to help us to continue to expand our services for those who need them.
“It was a fantastic effort from team Adoption Matters and we are incredibly thankful to all of them.”
