As a Children’s Charity, Adoption Matters relies on the support of our wonderful supporters and, by the way of a huge thank you, we would like to dedicate this post to those who have helped us throughout 2024 so far and give them the shout out that they deserve.
David Lathwood of BIC Advisory and Martin Hellawell of the Bloomfield Charitable Trust both recently made hugely generous donations to our charity. These donates are being used to provide on going therapeutic sessions to our families.
Our 2024 AJ Bell Great Manchester 10k team. This year our team consisted of Amy, who is part of our amazing team, and her son Ben. Joining them were David Neal, one of our lovely adopters, Ellie Whitworth, the daughter of another member of our team and John Williams of JLL, an ex-colleague of Annie, our Fundraising and Relationship Manager. Collectively, they remarkably raised almost £2,000 – how amazing?
On the theme of running, we have our squad set for the 2024 AJ Bell Great North Run taking place in September. David Neal is incredibly running for us again and joining him is Jacqui Bickerton, a member of Annie’s Church – St. James’ in Warrington, John O’Neill who is Annie’s husband, Stewart Holland, Jon’s colleague, and Stewart’s partner Elizabeth Dunstan. The Great North Run is a half marathon, so it is no mean feat to commit to the training and the event itself, so we are massively grateful for their efforts.
Kate and Martin Slack, who are adoptee grandparents, who very kindly opened up their beautiful woodlands and garden each year to allow our adoptive families and supporters of our charity to come together. This year’s event raised over £600 – we are so delighted at people’s kindness.
Tesco Warrington’s community team generously donated raffle and tombola prizes for this year’s Garden Party and it definitely played a huge factor in how much money we managed to make – alongside the delicious cake bake and tea and coffee sales organised by Kate, who is mentioned above, and the local villagers.
Staying with our Garden Party, we would also like to give a shout out to Andrew Collier, who kindly donated a fantastic photography shoot and framed image package, alongside a beautifully handmade crafted knife donated by Brownlow’s Furniture.
JLL Manchester invited us to present to employees to raise both awareness of adoption and to also open up the chance of introducing us to their clients who may be interested in partnering up with us for Charity Of The Year.
Chester Blue Coat donated £500 to help reignite our adoption community choir, which re-launched on 3rd July and was a roaring success. On the choir, AmaSing not only run the choir for us, but they also donated £400 from their community fund, meaning the monthly choir is funded for the remainder of 2024. Kate from AmaSing was quite literally amazing as our singing coach!
Miller Homes Community Fund have donated £500 towards a Pilot Theatre Workshop for Education around the subject of adoption and modern blended families. We are applying for further funds to bring this project to fruition and are so grateful to Miller Homes for getting us started on this journey.
We would also like to show our gratitude to all the organisations who support us by advertising our events and offering lots of networking opportunities at their own events – Warrington Business Exchange, Chester Business Club, West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce and Birchwood Park.
