Sara Davies, Dragon’s Den, BBC North West Tonight’s Roger Johnson, together with Actor and Comedian John Thomson, Dame Arlene Phillips and Gail Porter support local adoption charity

Adoption Matters, children’s charity and one of the largest voluntary adoption agencies in the UK, held it’s now annual actual and virtual Teddy Bears’ Picnic and Open Garden on Saturday 21st August.

Children and parents brought along their favourite Teddy Bear and braved the elements to eat their picnics in the grounds and woodland of the beautiful Ashton Grange in Ashton Hayes, near Chester.

Those who decided the weather was a little too inclement were able to take part in the virtual event with amazing stories from Sara Davies, Dragon’s Den, BBC North West Tonight’s Roger Johnson, together with Actor and Comedian John Thomson, Dame Arlene Phillips and Gail Porter and more and had some great resources including craft videos, recipe ideas, puzzles and even downloadable Adoption Matters bunting.

Our event sponsors Gigaloch, a fibre broadband provider who are building a network in the area, also came along with their families.

Director Steve Brown said: “What an amazing day our team members and their families had. We were very proud to support Adoption Matters – it’s a cause close to our hearts.

“We’d like to thank the charity and everyone who volunteered for creating such a memorable fun event.”

Adoption Matters Fundraising & Relationship Manager, Sarah Johnson commented:

“We had such a wonderful time on the day – it was so lovely to see the children and their families enjoying the storytelling, Teddy Bear Trail and the wonderful magician Andy Green from Chester who was a huge hit! Thank you so much to Gigaloch for helping to make this happen!

Anyone wanting to take part in the virtual event can still do so by booking at ticket at:

www.adoptionmatters.org/teddypicnic

As part of the registration for the Teddy Bears’ Picnic/Open Garden supporters will have their own personal fundraising page which they can use to help raise money for Adoption Matters. They can pick their very own Teddy Bear Challenge such as a sponsored silence, read, fun run, walk or dance, or they can give up something they love for a week such as chocolate, sweets or fizzy drinks.

Everyone raising more than £20 will receive one of our gorgeous Adoption Matters Teddy Bears as a thank you!”
