As the global effect of coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve, Adoption Matters is firmly committed to the health and safety of our staff, our families and the colleagues we work with across the UK. We are closely monitoring the changing situation and complying with the latest Government and public health guidance.
In line with this latest guidance and to ensure the well-being of attendees and our team, we are postponing some of our upcoming adoption information events planned which are all listed as follows:
Our Adopting with Concurrent Planning information evening, run in partnership with Caritas Care, due to be held on Thursday 2 April, 7pm at our Salford office is also cancelled.
As a lot of our staff are primarily home-working, we are well set up to function as things unfold over the next few weeks. If you were planning to attend one of our adoption information events and would like to speak to a member of our team, please do contact us on Tel: 0300 123 1066 or via email: info@adoptionmatters.org We can also look to offer you an online virtual meeting.
Our Centre for Adoption Support Workshops & Training cancellations:
If you are an adoptive family and were booked to attend one of our Centre for Adoption Support events listed, we will be in touch with you soon to notify you of this cancellation.
We are currently exploring alternative ways of delivering some of our workshops using webinars and other technology.
Some of our upcoming fundraising events will have to be cancelled or postponed. This is the last thing we want to do as so much hard work and organisation goes into these events and of course the money that is raised through them is essential in supporting our work. However, the safety and well-being of our families, staff, volunteers and community is the highest priority.
We are still waiting for updates regarding certain events but if you have registered for a postponed event, your registration will be valid for the new date. If you can no longer attend a postponed event or have registered for a cancelled event, please consider leaving the money with us as a donation, or if you would like a refund please contact us at fundraising@adoptionmatters.org
We want to reassure all of our families that we are here to support you. We know that many families may struggle over the coming weeks and the months ahead and our Centre for Adoption Support team are looking at how we can creatively support you. To protect our staff, as well as the families we work with, we have decided to take the proactive decision to sustain the ongoing support to our families and adjust our support services to provide telephone / video link support packages to families rather than face to face meetings.
We have been successfully trialling remote support sessions for the last six months and that we feel this is an appropriate time to roll out this way of working to a wider range of families. As well as being in line with the Government’s advice on social distancing, we also feel that offering adoption support digitally and remotely can be a more convenient and accessible way to access therapeutic support for many of the families that we work with.
Our Therapy Services are continuing with their work. Risk assessments will be carried out with each family. This will be reviewed on an ongoing basis over the coming weeks.
