On Saturday 11 May 2019, eight brave fundraisers completed the 10,000ft Tandem Skydive at Tilstock in Whitchurch in aid of children’s charity Adoption Matters. Their challenge has raised almost £6,000 so far for the children’s charity and independent adoption agency.
Five of the thrill-seekers included staff members, Tommy, Deanna, Ollie, Amy and James from the Ice Cream Farm in Tattenhall, Cheshire. Their efforts are just one in a series of fundraising events by The Ice Cream Farm, which has selected Adoption Matters as its Charity of the Year. Alongside the Tandem Skydive The Ice Cream Farm is supporting the charity by displaying donation boxes across their site and raising awareness about adoption and the shortage of adoptive parents.
Three other members of the crew were Sarah, Ryan and Holly whose parents adopted them through Adoption Matters and were delighted to be able to give something back.
Adoption Matters Fundraising and Relationship Manager, Sarah Johnson, commented, “We are so grateful to this amazing group of young people who have raised funds for our charity whilst having an experience of a lifetime. The day was so successful we plan to hold a further Tandem Skydive Day later in the year”.
Amy, who took part in the skydive as part of the staff crew from the Ice Cream Farm said: “This is one of the most amazing things I have ever done”.
All money raised helps to provide the vital life-long support and training given to families following the adoption process for as long as they may need it.
