Once again this year, leading children’s charity and adoption agency Adoption Matters is supporting LGBTQ+ Fostering and Adoption Week (March 2-8) by holding a number of information evenings and a LIVE chat session during the week.  The charity is proud members of New Family Social, who run the campaign week which this year aims to tackle the myths and expectation of discrimination LGBTQ+ people can hold, that prevent them from exploring routes to parenthood.

Nationally 1 in 7 adoptions in 2019 were to same-sex couples and Adoption Matters welcomes potential LGBTQ+ adopters and foster carers to get in touch and explore adoption.  Statistics are not currently collected on single gay adopters so the number of LGBTQ adopters will be higher.  Adoption Matters adopter Charlie* adopted through the concurrent planning service when he was 35 years old. He shares his story here: https://www.adoptionmatters.org/case_study/charlie/
