An afternoon to raise awareness of adoption and fostering whilst raising vital funds for our charity. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Browsholme Hall in Clitheroe. Nestled in the beautiful Forest of Bowland, surrounded by picturesque gardens, Browsholme is Lancashire’s oldest ancestral home and the home of one of our charity patrons Amanda Parker, Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire.
After a welcome address from our patron Amanda Parker, you will enjoy a Cava and canapé reception, followed by an exquisite three course menu sourced from local Lancashire caterers, the striped kitchen. With their ‘field to fork’ ethos, the provenance of their menu items is of the highest importance, utilising the finest produce from across the Ribble Valley.
After lunch, our special guest and speaker, Timpson Group founder, adopter and foster parent, Sir John Timpson, CBE, will talk about his career and his unique insight into adoption and fostering (more on Sir John is included below).
Our event will end with a tour of Browsholme Hall and Gardens for those who wish to partake.

We are truly honoured to welcome our special guest and speaker, Timpson Group founder, adopter and foster parent, Sir John Timpson, CBE. Timpson now has over 2,000 branches nationwide with a turnover of £260m and profits of over £20m. It remains a private business wholly owned by Sir John Timpson and his family. Alex Timpson MBE, John’s wife of 48 years who often features in John’s books as his lifelong mentor and moral compass sadly passed away in January 2016. The couple had three children, adopted two sons and were foster carers to 90 children over 31 years. John launched the Alex Timpson Trust in October 2017 in tribute to his wife’s dedication to championing the rights of looked after children and those in the care system.
Amanda Parker was appointed as one of our charity Patrons in March 2024.
Amanda was appointed Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire in August 2023. Born, bred and educated in Lancashire she is a devoted Lancastrian. Amanda lives with her husband Robert at Browsholme Hall, one of Lancashire’s most important historic houses. Together they manage the family estate developing a successful tourism, events and accommodation business in the county.
Amanda has a long record of public service in Lancashire, extending over thirty five years. In 2015, she was appointed High Sheriff of Lancashire and in 2017 was elected to the High Sheriffs’ Association Council. There, Amanda was given responsibility for National Crimebeat, the Association’s youth crime prevention charity, a role she has relished as it encompasses two of her passions: the lives of young people and the law.
