Team Adoption Matters is set for the 2024 Great North Run

The 2024 AJ Bell Great North run is set to go ahead on Sunday 8th September 2024 and we are extremely fortunate to have five wonderful people take on the challenge in support of our charity.

To run a half marathon is an incredbile achievement and we are extremely thankful to our supporters for choosing to take on the event in aid of Adoption Matters.

The Great North Run is touted as the ‘world’s biggest and best half marathon’ and it has over 60,000 people taking on the 13.1-mile route from Newcastle to South Shields each year.

If you are a supporter of adoption, and/or our charity, and you would like to get behind team Adoption Matters for this event, then we would be extremely grateful if you could consider sponsoring one or more of our runners.

Below, we have linked their fundraising pages, and your donation would help us to provide more adoption support to adoptive families, children, adopted adults and birth families.

Team Adoption Matters:

Jacqui Bickerton – Jacqui taking on this challenge in support of her friend, Annie O’Neill, who is our Fundraising and Relationship Manager.

Jon O’Neill – Jon is Annie’s partner and as an adopter himself he understands the importance of adoption support. He is taking on the challenge as a show of support to the work that our organisation does.

Stewart Holland – Jon’s boss, Stewart, will also be taking on the Great North Run in a bid to raise funds for our children’s charity.

Elizabeth Dunstan – Joining Stewart on team Adoption Matters will be his partner, Elizabeth. Elizabeth and Stewart decided to choose Adoption Matters as the beneficiary charity of this incredible challenge.

David Neal – David is one of our amazing adopters who also remarkably ran the Great Manchester 10k in support of Adoption Matters. We are so thankful to him for his tremendous efforts.
