Leading adoption charity and adoption agency Adoption Matters are delighted with the announcement that adoptive families and special guardians are set to benefit from a welcome extension to the Adoption Support Fund.
Education Secretary, Gavin Williamson announced this week further funding for the Adoption Support Fund ensuring every family that needs it will be able to get therapeutic support until 2021. The commitment builds on the £130m already invested through the fund, which has benefitted over 40,000 families.
Adoption Matters offer support services through their unique Therapy Service and Centre for Adoption Support (CfAS), these services offer support to adopters, special guardians, foster carers and professionals.
From April 2018 to March 2019 Adoption Matters have provided therapeutic support to over 500 families and worked with over 60 schools. Over 450 people have attended our training programmes and workshops.

“This is very welcome and encouraging news for Adopters and Special Guardians for whom ongoing therapeutic support is crucial.
Longer term planning and commitment is essential to help support families
All Adoption Matters therapeutic services can be funded through The Adoption Support Fund, which provides funding for a wide range therapeutic support.
We know that every child and family is different; there is no one size of therapy that fits all”.
