Fundraiser runs 450km in a single month for Adoption Matters

9 July 2021

Our supporter Edward made April, his birthday month, more valuable by giving rather than receiving and vowed to run 450KM for Adoption Matters!

Running started off being a coping mechanism for Edward and helped him deal with anxiety and depression.

“The more I grew up the more I realised that it’s something I really enjoy doing and it slowly started becoming a big part of my life. Now I am fortunate enough to be able to use the one thing that has helped me to help other people.

I have been lucky enough to grow up in a supportive and loving family but unfortunately a lot of children weren’t given that opportunity. Children shouldn’t have to start their life without emotional support, guidance or resources. Every child deserves an opportunity to grow up in a secure and caring family which will help them reach their full potential.

Adoption Matters is an incredible charity that recruits, trains and supports individuals and families as adopters and offers them ongoing support and training for as long as they need it. They are inclusive, ethical and they work within a culture of respect and acceptance. Adoption Matters believes that children’s welfare and needs are paramount and aim for them to grow up in a secure and loving family who will best meet their long-term needs.”

At the end of his mega challenge Edward raised an incredible £500 to help us support adopted children and their families – what an achievement – we are so grateful for his support!
