When: Wednesday 9 September 2020
As the global effect of Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve, Adoption Matters is firmly committed to the health and safety of our staff, our families and the colleagues we work with across the UK. We are closely monitoring the changing situation and complying with the latest Government and public health guidance.
In line with this latest guidance and to ensure the well-being of attendees and our team, we have adapted many of our events to be delivered virtually online.
About this workshop:
Inspired by the work of Brené Brown and Dan Hughes, this workshop explores the universal experience of shame in adults and children through theory and experiential exercises. We will consider the relation between attachment patterns and shame, as well as the impact of early trauma on the development of (toxic) shame. Finally, we will discuss the concept and benefits of ‘shame resilience’ and strategies to increase your own and your child’s capacity for this. This workshop will be presented by two therapeutic social workers from the Centre for Adoption Support and will feature opportunities to share experiences with other adoptive parents.
