When: Wednesday 5 August 2020
As the global effect of Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve, Adoption Matters is firmly committed to the health and safety of our staff, our families and the colleagues we work with across the UK. We are closely monitoring the changing situation and complying with the latest Government and public health guidance.
In line with this latest guidance and to ensure the well-being of attendees and our team, we have adapted many of our events to be delivered virtually online.
About this workshop:
We are aware that there are family with children over 8 for whom child to parent violence and aggression (CPVA) is a significant issue. This is a situation that is increasingly recognized within the world of adoption and we know that this is a particularly difficult issue to manage for families. In this workshop we explore the challenges of living with CPVA and consider possible reasons why this behaviour may be occurring. We will introduce you to Family Safety Plan tool we use in our service to support families living with CPVA and will look at how you may use this tool in your own home to develop and test strategies that may be helpful in reducing occurrences of CPVA. This workshop will be presented by a therapeutic social worker from the Centre for Adoption Support and will feature opportunities to share experiences with other adoptive parents.
