We are delighted to announce that our Chief Executive, Norman Goodwin, has been awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Chester based Norman, who is originally from Carluke Lanarkshire, who this year celebrates his 30th year working at Adoption Matters, and is a British Association of Adoption & Fostering (BAAF) & the Consortium of Voluntary Adoption Agencies (CVAA) Trustee, has worked tirelessly to raise the profile of adoption and Adoption Matters highly respected work in the field.

Norman commented: “It is a great personal honour for me and fantastic for the agency.  I hope that we can continue to raise the profile of adoption and positive outcomes for children”.

Adoption Matters is the ONLY voluntary adoption agency in the NW to be rated as Outstanding 3 consecutive times and awarded VAA of the year by BAAF in 2012 & 2014.  The agency, which has been in operation since 1947 has placed thousands of children over the years and in the past 10 years has specialised in placing children with more complex needs, covering the North West, Yorkshire & Humber and West Midlands.

In 2013, the agency formed a partnership with Caritas Care with a DfE prospectus grant offering innovative support to children and families involved in the adoption process. The Centre has received national accolade and support from Minister for Children & Families, Edward Timpson MP.
