Adoption Matters joined the crowds to take part in the 2023 annual Durham Pride event on Sunday 28 May, celebrating inclusion and diversity.

Joining the parade, which started at Durham Cathedral were members of Adoption Matters North East team, proudly waving their Pride flag and handing out their very own Adoption love hearts to the crowds.

Nearly 25% of Adoption Matters approved families in 2021-22 identified as LGBTQ+ and the organisation was recently awarded commended agency status by the national LGBTQ+ adoption and fostering charity New Family Social for their inclusivity and support.

Adoption Matters also proudly sponsored the event with a Pride Heart that was displayed throughout the weekend.

The charity are also members of North East England Rainbow Alliance – a group of representatives from different agencies, including Office for the Member of Parliament for the City of Durham, Durham County Council, Durham University, Durham Constabulary, Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service, who are all about raising awareness and improving responses for LGBTQ+ people living and working across Co Durham and Darlington and the North East.
