Leading adoption charity and adoption agency Adoption Matters are launching a new recruitment drive across the North West & Yorkshire region to meet increasing demand for adopters.
Adoption statistics* published earlier this year revealed that there are more children currently entering the adoption system than adopters. Data gathered over the last 12 months shows that an average of 840 children are entering the system each quarter compared to 460 adopters.
Adoption Matters Chief Executive Norman Goodwin CBE commented “There is a misconception that there isn’t any children waiting for adoption, that isn’t true, there are currently just over 2,000 children waiting for a family right now in England & Wales. Children over the age of 4, sibling groups, children from a BME background and children with additional needs wait the longest and we want to help change that.
We have a proven track record of placing children who fall into these groups and we offer all our families ongoing support and training for as long as they need it”.
We are urging people from all walks of life to get in touch with us to find out more about adoption by calling us on Tel: 0300 1263 1066 or completing our online enquiry form here.
Adoption Matters is one of the largest adoption agencies in the UK and this year celebrate their 70th anniversary in which they have placed over 4,000 children in their history. They have offices in Chester, Warrington, Salford, Hale, Blackburn & Leeds.
