Changes to the Centre for Adoption Support

The Centre for Adoption Support (CfAS) has operated as a partnership between Adoption Matters and Caritas Care since 2013. Developed initially with Department of Education (DfE) funding, CfAS has grown into a much valued and respected professional service, supporting adopters and children from within both partner Voluntary Adoption Agencies and providing commissioned adoption support services to Local Authorities, Regional Adoption Agencies and educational professionals.

As part of an internal restructure, Caritas Care has taken the decision to separate from the CfAS partnership and develop its own Adoption Support Service, focusing purely on offering a range of adoption support to Caritas Care’s own adoptive families and children. Caritas Care Chief Executive Amanda Forshaw, comments:

“We will continue our close working relationship with Adoption Matters on our other partnership services the Concurrent Planning Service and the Bespoke Family Finding Service. It has been a privilege to have been part of the development and operation of CfAS, we wish Adoption Matters every success with continuing the excellent work offered by the Centre.”

Adoption Matters Chief Executive, Norman Goodwin, CBE commented:

“From 1 October 2019, the CfAS service will continue to operate and develop as an Adoption Matters service, offering a comprehensive range of adoption support services to its own adoptive families and undertaking commissioned work. This is in addition to the ongoing support families receive from their own named Adoption Matters Adoption Practitioner who led them through the assessment process.”

The Centre’s services will be delivered by a Multi-Disciplinary Team consisting of 9 Therapeutic Social Workers and an Occupational Therapist, all highly experienced in delivering adoption support services, led by the Centre’s Service Manager, Anne Fleming and CfAS Practice Managers, David Robinson-Field and Hedwig Verhagen.

Please be assured that the changes should not affect any support services to families or commissioners.
